Coaching

Coaching is goal-oriented, future-focused work involving structured thinking and accountability, not clinical treatment. Coaching is inherently results-oriented, and is more focused on problem solving than understanding where the problem comes from. Many people use coaching after therapy — they've resolved the deeper emotional material and now want help translating that self-knowledge into concrete changes in how they live and work.

What to Expect:

Big-picture insight and accountability.

Similar to therapy, we will start by looking at all areas of your life; exploring where you feel the most satisfaction and where you’d like to see change. From there, we determine WHAT that change looks like, and break down the steps it will take to get there. The coaching partnership then moves into one of consistent goal-setting, support and accountability to help you make real, measurable progress.

Access to sessions worldwide.

Clinical mental health therapy has many limitations that coaching does not, such as where you can receive services. Because coaching is not regulated by state/country, you can work with me from anywhere in the world.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I choose between coaching and talk therapy?

I often use the following metaphor to differentiate between these two services: Picture a hole in the ground, and separately, the base of a mountain. Where do you feel you’re existing in life right now? If you feel as though you’re stuck in the hole, and baseline functioning has become difficult, therapy might be best for you. If you see yourself at the base of the mountain, and your day-to-day is tolerable but you have dreams and ideals for yourself in the long term, coaching might be more your speed.

Are coaching sessions covered by insurance?

Since coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental health concerns, insurance does not cover coaching. My fee for coaching sessions is $125/45 min.
